Hammon, Jimmie Ruth

Jimmie Ruth Hammon, 81, of Chattanooga, died onFriday, February 10, 2012 in a local medical facility.

She was born August 21, 1930 in Chattanooga, the daughter of the late James F. and Myrtle Holloway. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years William Lloyd Hammon and by several brothers and sisters. 

Mrs. Hammon was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church, the Silent Workers Sunday School Class, the Tennessee Association of the Deaf and the National Fraternal Society of the Deaf. 

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Ruth Hammon of Greeneville, Tn.; nieces, Betty Davis and Nancy Maynor, both of Chattanooga; sister, Leatha Powers of Chattanooga, and a brother, Morris Holloway of Chattanooga. 

Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 13 at 1 p.m. in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 12:30-1 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to East Ridge Baptist Church, 4201 Ringgold Road, East Ridge, Tn. 37412, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105

Virgil C. Thomas, 99, of Kimball, Tennessee, died on Friday, May 11, 2012. Man Who Survived By "Playing Dead" Points To Talley, Grace As Robbers Involved In Shooting Of Him And Rapper Brikk
