Lady Mocs Host College of Charleston Saturday

The Lady Mocs are sitting in third place in the league standings behind Appalachian State (12-1) and Davidson (11-2) after falling at Furman in their last time out. The Lady Mocs are third in the league in scoring with 63.3 points per game and third in scoring margin, outscoring opponents by 4.4 ppg.

After leading the league in free throw percentage, Chattanooga hit a snag at Furman and dropped to second in the SoCon standing averaging 74 percent from the charity stripe.

From the floor, UTC is shooting 39.1 percent and 30 percent from beyond the arc where they average 6.1 per game. The Lady Mocs average 40.7 rebounds per game, fourth in the SoCon, and allow 37.1 to their opponents, also fourth in the conference standings.

Whitney Hood, shooting 52 percent, leads the league in field goal percentage and is sixth in scoring with 13 points per game. Taylor Hall leads UTC in rebounding with 8.5 per game, second-best in the conference. Kayla Christopher is Chattanooga’s 3-point leader with 40 on the year and Tenisha Townsend has a team-high 57 assists. Christopher is second on the team in scoring with 10.5 ppg and Lambert is third in scoring with 9.0 ppg and second in rebounding with 6.3 per game.

The Cougars are 3-3 over the last six games and currently in the midst of a three-game losing skid. The Cougars are last in the conference in scoring with just 46.2 ppg put first in scoring defense allowing a league-low 55.8 points per game to its foes. From the field, CofC is shooting 29.9 percent and 24.5 percent from beyond the arc, both last in the SoCon. However, they stymie their opponents there as well allowing opponents to make just 35.4 percent of their attempts from the floor and 26.5 percent from the 3-point line, second best in the SoCon. The Cougars are 10th in free throw percentage making just 59.4 percent from the line. On the boards, CofC is third in the league with 41 rebounds per game and are outrebounded by half a board per game. The Cougars average 4.8 blocked shots per game and nab 9.7 steals per game. Latisha Harris leads the team in scoring with 8.3 ppg and 7.6 rebounds per game. Jillian Brown is fifth in the SoCon with 4.1 assists per game and fourth with 2.2 steals per game. Harris and Cathryn Hardy hold the top two spots in the league for offensive rebounds with 3.0 and 2.8 respectively.

The Lady Mocs and the College of Charleston have met 33 times since 1977 and 31 times in Southern Conference action. UTC owns a 25-8 record over the Cougars overall and a 25-6 SoCon mark since CofC joined the league in 1994. The Cougars have won three of the last six meetings including two in Charleston. Chattanooga posted its first win at TD Arena in three tries when the two teams met earlier this year.

Man Who Survived By "Playing Dead" Points To Talley, Grace As Robbers Involved In Shooting Of Him And Rapper Brikk
