Cleveland Leads Region 3 Wrestling

Prior to Friday’s Region 3 wrestling tournament, Cleveland coach Eric Phillips knew his guys needed to live up to being defending state champs and having nine, No.

1 seeds.

After the semifinals, Phillips was definitely pleased with the results as the Blue Raiders put 12 in Saturday’s finals with two more still alive in the consolations.

Region 3 – at Bradley Central

Saturday: 11 a.m start of consolations … 3 p.m. – championship finals

(top 4 in each weight class advance to the state, Feb. 16-18 in Franklin)

 

“We wrestled well tonight and to have 12 in the finals means we will have good placement in the state brackets and hopefully our two guys in the consolations can place third (top four in each weight class advance to the state tournament),” said Phillips.

Cleveland leads the team race with 222 points, followed by defending region champs and host Bradley Central (143.50, 7 finalists) with Walker Valley in third (75.50, 2 finalists), Heritage fourth and Maryville fifth (  in the 13-team field.

Man Who Survived By "Playing Dead" Points To Talley, Grace As Robbers Involved In Shooting Of Him And Rapper Brikk
