We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (3)

Saturday, February 11, 2012

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   For those who want to hang their hat on the previous ruling that was set aside on appeal, Judge Hollingsworth made it clear the reason was not based on the merit of his decision, but based on procedure, therefore, came to the same decision.

The "interveners" would be wise to drop their recall obsession and actually be a productive part of our community instead of forcing the city to keep paying court costs, which have already exceeded $155,000, not to mention the mayor's personal expenses.  Mr. West could choose a path of enhancing our city with his money instead of trying to fund the smoke machine that keeps a cloud over our city.

Thank you again, Mayor Littlefield, for standing firm as a man of integrity and staying focused on the job we elected you to do.  Since your election in 2005, our city has watched you do your job with a passion and joy which overflows onto the people and the streets of this city.  You have not only shined here at home but have been a light representing Chattanooga in many cities all over the world.  It is our privilege to have you as our mayor.

My wife and I could not agree with you more. The mayor and his wife have put their heart and soul into this city to make it a place in which we call all be proud of so that our children and grandchildren can grow up here and call Chattanooga home.

The issues that are going on in the city were not caused by the mayor nor can they be repaired by him alone. If the people spent time working together, a lot of things could be turned around.

True we will not always agree on the policies that come from City Hall and we all never will, just as when Corker, Kinsey or even Roberts held the tile as mayor.

Mr. Littlefield,  I am proud to call you mayor and do not let anyone detour you from the vision you have for our great city.

Every city needs a mayor who is willing to stand against the bullies. This recall went far beyond trying to get rid of the mayor. From the very beginning it came across as vicious, vindictive, spiteful and vengeful. I'm just disappointed in those people (and they know who they are) who signed that petition without first researching the people behind the recall and their true agenda. They used you.

If all someone can do is threaten to kick you out of office or not vote for you again, they're not doing very much anyway.

These people will go after anyone. One was even on another forum not long ago trying to dig up dirt on me. For what? Because I've disagreed with a lot of policies, actions and abuse of power at the hands some of Chattanooga's 'finest'. The individual snooping around was trying to find out if I lived in public housing. I do not. If I received food stamps. Again, I do not. How did they intend on using this info if I did receive any type of public assistance? Lived in public housing etc? Were they going to have one or more of CHA cops to burst up into an apartment and terrorize me? Were they going to contact the food stamp office and attempt to make me lose benefits? Were they going to attempt to set me up to get me evicted from public housing if I did live there? I guess they think all black folks must live in public housing and receive food stamps or some form of public assistance. That's the extent of that small world from which they navigate.
That's how wicked and evil some of these people involved in this recall truly are. What's even more disturbing is they most all likely attend church every Sunday. They're all sneaky lowdown/dirty belly crawlers. 'Nuf said.

My prayers to the mayor and his family.

I would like to also share my personal experience with Ron Littlefield. For six years I was the president of a Christian motorcycle ministry in the city of Chattanooga with it as our purpose to ride motorcycles together, worship the Lord, and to serve the community. One of the forms of service our group regularly participated in was to help prepare and serve supper to the homeless at the Union Gospel Mission on Main Street.

Knowing of Ron’s interest in the homeless issue I sent an invite for him to put his words into action by meeting our group, helping us with our service to the unfortunate homeless folks. Somewhat to my surprise Ron showed up, without any press, and spent the night washing pot and pans, serving supper, and personally walking down the line meeting each person as they prepared for dinner.

To say I was personally impressed with Ron and his character would be an understatement and I will always have warm thoughts about this mayor that put the lives of people who are struggling in life above his personal political agenda. At the end of the night I considered Ron to be a personal friend and to say I was impressed with him as a person would be an understatement.

There was never any mention in the media about Ron’s service on that night because they never knew about it, and I think we would have to go all the way back to Mayor Ralph Kelly to find a mayor who would offer his personal service without regards to the political payback.

Since my experience with Ron I have heard of similar accounts where Ron served people in some function without the typical political payback. My thanks to Ron and well wishes for whatever endeavor he elects to pursue after his term as mayor.
