Police Blotter: Truck Drivers Steal 711 Gallons Of Diesel

Police said two men driving 18 wheelers stole 711 gallons of diesel from the Mapco on Rossville Boulevard.

The diesel was valued at $2,594.44.

Station employees said the pair broke out the side panel of a pump and pulled out a key. They drove off after filling up.

They were described as two white males. One was 40-50, medium build and about 5'6" tall with gray hair. The other was 5'3"-5'6" and in his late 40s. He had a small frame and sported a goatee.

One was driving a red Fleetwood and the other a gray Fleetwood or MAC.

Jessica Turner of Larchmont Drive reported a residential burglary.

The burglar cut through a rear screen door and broke out a window on a door.

Taken were a 42" TV from downstairs and a 32" inch that was upstairs.

An officer checked out a green 1997 Hyundai Accent parked on Lee Highway and found Michael Johnson in the front and Joshua Strickenbarger and Laysa Walden in the back seat.

He said the trio was smoking meth. There was a bag strapped to Strickenbarger containing drugs and drug paraphernalia, including marijuana, needles, meth and what appeared to be papers for smoking LSD.

They were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

Johnson and Strickenbarger were found to have warrants on file against them.

Tina Finney of Delashmitt Road said she rented a truck and loaned it to Terella Crutcher. She said there were problems when she tried to get it back.

Ms. Finney said she was attacked by Ms. Crutcher's friend - described as a black female in her 20s. She said the woman hit her several times with a hammer and may have broken her arm.

A jogger on the Brainerd Levee said a homeless white male began jogging behind her making sexual remarks.

She said she ran to Camp Jordan in East Ridge and had East Ridge Police drive her back to her car on Brainerd Road.

He was described as husky and 25-35 years old.

Girl Found Dead On Porch Was 14

The girl who was found dead on a porch on 12th Avenue on Monday was 14 years old. Funeral services are pending for Chelsea Smith Hayes, who police say was killed on Sunday and whose body was then placed on the porch.
