Lady Flames Basketball Claims 25th Win

The Lady Flames basketball team claimed its 25th win of the season with an 89-32 defeat of Truett-McConnell College Saturday afternoon. Lee now stands at 25-1 overall and 17-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) play. 

Madison Lee hit 3-of-5 three point shots on her way to a team-high 12 points. The sophomore also had five rebounds and an assist.

Madeleine Doyle was the only other Lady Flame in double-digit scoring. Doyle was 5-for-7 from the field in tallying 10 points and four rebounds.

Hollie German and Angela Spann threw in nine points each. German added three rebounds and three assists, while Spann grabbed six boards and dished out two assists.

Julia Zimmerman was 3-for-3 from the floor, including two three-pointers, to tally eight points for the Lady Flames.

Mary Jackson and Myriah Iles followed with six markers a piece. Jackson had five rebounds and Iles was credited with four.

Brooke Hamby, Jordan Neuharth, Kari Jo Harris and Jenna Adams each scored five points. Karley Miller added four points, Rachel Lockhart hit a three-pointer and Lauren Browning finished the scoring with two.

“I’m glad we got everybody in and out like we did,” said Lee head coach Marty Rowe. “We were able to work on our zone defense and motion offense. We weren’t sloppy, didn’t turn the ball over that much and made our shots.”

Lee received 49 points from its bench, compared to three for the hosts. The Lady Flames won the rebound battle 46-24 with 20 rebounds coming at the offensive end. 

Lee forced 23 turnovers and cashed them in for 18 points, while the Lady Bears turned 13 Lee turnovers into just two points.

The Lady Flames shot 52 percent (32-of-61) from the field and hit 12-of-25 (48 percent) from beyond the arc. Truett-McConnell was held to 24 percent (12-for-49) from the floor and 24 percent (5-for-21) from long distance.

Leading the way for Truett-McConnell (2-23, 0-15 SSAC) was Dorreka Faulkner with a game-high 14 points. Faulkner added two rebounds and two assists to her stat line.

Kelsey Montgomery had seven points and four rebounds. Natalie Johnson added two three-pointers and five rebounds. Rounding out the Lady Bears’ scoring were Rachel Benhart, Morgan Gould and Siedah Rivers with two, two and one, respectively.

“Brenau will be an interesting game to see how we are. We are banged up, but we’re going to have to fight through it,” admitted Rowe.

The Monday evening affair in Gainesville, Ga., is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m.

Man Who Survived By "Playing Dead" Points To Talley, Grace As Robbers Involved In Shooting Of Him And Rapper Brikk
