Vols Get Impressive Win On Road At Florida

Maymon added a team-high 11 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season. Golden handed out seven assists, equalling his most in an SEC game -- also done vs. Florida in the first meeting.

Tennessee (13-12, 5-5 SEC) has won three games in a row and four out of five with the lone loss at No. 1 Kentucky. The win came after the Vols started 0-7 on the road in 2011-12. The last time the Vols picked up their first road win of a season in February came in 1978.

The Vols swept the season series for the third time in five years, also taking the home-and-home in 2007-08 and 2008-09. Last year, Florida swept all three meetings last season

Florida failed in its second chance to win 20 games and stands at 19-6 overall and 7-3 in the league. The Gators were led by Bradley Beal and Kenny Boynton as each had, 16 points. The Gators were 13-0 at home this season coming to the game.

Tennessee took control early in the first half and never looked back. The Vols dominated in several areas that made the difference in the game: field goal percentage (48.0-42.6), rebounds (36-30), second-chance points (17-8), points in the paint (36-14), bench points (22-10)

With the exception of 64 seconds, the Vols held a double-figure lead for the final 26:39 after a McRae dunk with 6:39 left in the first half. The Gators cut the deficit to nine momentarily early in the second half and late in the game.

Tennessee held a 41-30 lead at halftime as the Vols outscored Florida, 32-20 over the final 13 minutes of the first half. The Vols led by as many as 17 (39-22) on a Maymon lay-up with 2:27 left in the half. Florida scored eight of the final 10 points in the half to close the gap at intermission.

The Vols used a 9-0 run to take an 18-10 lead with 11 minutes left in the first half as McRae stuffed home a feed from Maymon. The run expanded to 15-2 as the Vols led 24-12 with 10 minutes left in the half on a Kenny Hall bucket.

Freshman Jarnell Stokes returned to action after missing the South Carolina game with a right wrist injury.

Tennessee returns home to face Arkansas next Wednesday night at 8 p.m. That game will be on the SEC Network and heard on the Vol Network.
