Eight Lee Faculty Members Earn Tenure

Eight of Lee University’s faculty members were awarded tenure by Lee’s Board of Directors. The announcement was made by Lee President Paul Conn congratulating this year’s recipients. These faculty members include: Guy DeLoach, Shane Griffith, Christie Kleinmann, Lisa Long, Kelly Lumpkin, Brad Moffett, Austin Patty and Lori West.

Guy DeLoach has been an assistant professor of business at Lee since 2005. Before coming to Lee, he was the vice president for Toyota in the West Tennessee division. He is also a certified quality engineer and a certified reliability engineer. Dr. DeLoach has worked with the U.S. Department of Commerce as a prestigious Baldridge Examiner and the Department of Defense assessing military bases to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. He is still working in the healthcare industry helping to improve efficiency and performance.

Dr. DeLoach earned his PhD from Baker University, his MBA from Union University, and his BS from Guilford College. 

In 2002 Shane Griffith joined the Lee Faculty as an assistant professor of business. Prior to returning to Lee, his alma mater, he spent six years working in Atlanta as an actuary. In 2009 he received Lee’s Excellence in Advising Award.

Dr. Griffith received his DBA from Nova Southern University, his MAS from Georgia State University, and his BS from Lee University.

Christie Kleinmann was welcomed to Lee’s faculty in the fall of 2006 and currently serves an assistant professor of communication. She has received several recognitions for her work, including the University of Tennessee Fellowship for Academic Excellence twice, the 40 Under 40 Business Leader Award from The Business Journal for Northeast Tenn./Southwest Va., and the Geneva King Writing Award from King College. She taught at Northeast State Technical Community College and at King College prior to teaching at Lee. 

Dr. Kleinmann earned her PhD in Communication and Public Relations from the University of Tennessee. She also received her MA at Auburn University and her BA from King College.

In the fall of 2006, Lisa Long joined the Department of Christian Ministries. Dr. Long currently serves as the director for Graduate Studies in Christian Ministries and an assistant professor of Christian formation. Prior to her arrival at Lee, she served as a youth pastor, a Christian education pastor, and a children’s pastor.

Dr. Long earned her PhD from Biola University and her master’s degree from the Church of God Theological Seminary. She graduated from Lee in 2000 with a BS in Christian Ministries.

Kelly Lumpkin has been with the Department of Health, Exercise, and Secondary Education since 2005. She is now an assistant professor of athletic training. Before coming to Lee she served as a certified athletic trainer at Cleveland State Community College and Martin Methodist College.

Dr. Lumpkin holds a PhD from Middle Tennessee State University, a master’s degree in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University, and a BS in Biology from Austin Peay State University.

Brad Moffett, an assistant professor of music, is director of the Graduate Programs in Music, director of the Lee Singers, and director of Chapel Music at Lee. Dr. Moffett was a nominee for the Church of God Outstanding Minister of Music, and was honored in the National Religious Week Association Top Fifteen Ministers of Music. Dr. Moffett has also produced or conducted on eight choral recording projects earning a Dove Award nomination in 2006 on the Geron David recording titled He is Great.

Dr. Moffett received his doctorate from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, his master’s from Georgia State University, and his BME from Lee College.

Austin Patty joined the School of Music faculty in 2006 as an assistant professor of music.  He has presented at regional and national music theory conferences and has also been published in the Music Theory Spectrum Journal. 

Dr. Patty earned his PhD and MA from the Eastman School of Music and his BA from the University of Oregon.

Lori West has been a faculty member in the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics since the fall of 2006, currently serving as an assistant professor in biology. She is actively involved in research, spending most summers working with Lee students on various research projects which have been presented nationally. 

Dr. West earned her PhD from the University of Tennessee and her BA in biology from Maryville College.


Salvation Army Gets Kids Ready For Camp With Medical Physicals On Saturday

Hotel Planned At South End Of The Walnut Street Bridge

Teen Killed When Thrown From Hood Of Car At Old Kmart On Signal Mountain Road

A 17-year-old was killed Sunday night when he was thrown from the hood of a vehicle at the old Kmart on Signal Mountain Road.
