HealthSouth Corporation To Expand Chattanooga Facility

Thursday, February 02, 2012

HealthSouth Corporation officials announced Thursday plans to expand the Chattanooga facility.

HealthSouth has received permission from the Tennessee Health Services Development Agency for the new construction.

An abandoned diagnostic building will be torn down, then the hospital will expand by 27,100-square feet to relocate 50 patient beds currently on the second floor of the hospital.

The new construction will include 30 private rooms.

That will more than tripling the current private room offering. Also, 10 spacious semi-private rooms, a new day room and support spaces will be included in the project. Renovation of the existing hospital space includes expanding the dining room and therapy gym along with aesthetic improvements to the current patient rooms and the building. The second floor will house the regional business office.

The work is set to start in June.

“We have been privileged to serve patients in Chattanooga and the surrounding communities for more than 20 years and look forward to continuing to provide patients the high-quality care they’ve come to expect in this updated environment,” said Scott Rowe, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Chattanooga CEO. “The new private patient rooms and additional renovations will keep our hospital on the cutting-edge of rehabilitation and provide patients with the additional convenience and comfort they need to get better faster.”
