Alan Painter

Alan Painter (R-Chattanooga Valley) has kicked off a campaign for the new House District 1 seat that represents Dade and Walker counties (except areas around the cities of Chickamauga and LaFayette). Mr. Painter said he is pro-life, pro-guns, and pro-limited government.

Campaign officials said, "Liberals say that the courts will give the last word on the unconstitutionality over issues like Obamacare or EPA mandates forced on Georgia. If elected, Alan Painter will explore a first line of defense.

The Georgia House of Representatives has the constitutional authority to defund any Georgia agency that tries to implement over reaching federal activities that are in conflict with the U.S. 10th amendment.

"Every dollar in Georgia's budget depends on 30 cents from the federal government. With a $15 trillion national debt, like it or not, we have to start the process of reshaping Georgia's budget. This will allow us to break the stranglehold of unelected federal bureaucrats attacking our liberties."

Mr. Painter's family has called Northwest Georgia home for five generations. His dad is the late W.R. Painter, a union electrician, and mom Mae (Padgett) Painter, a former mill worker.

Mr. Painter was an honor graduate from Chattanooga Valley High School. He started his undergraduate work at the Georgia Institute of Technology in electrical engineering. He also holds diplomas and degrees from Chattanooga State, Northwestern Technical College, and Covenant College.

Mr. Painter started his career as a software writer while still a student at Georgia Tech. He has worked on projects for the EPA, DoD, DoE, and NASA. He worked for nearly 10 years as a computer systems manager at Wheland Foundry as well as five years as a technology project manager at Memorial Hospital. He is a senior software engineer for Thomson Reuters, the parent company of the international news gathering agency Reuters.

He is married to the former Tina Parham and Mrs. Painter is a sixth grade math teacher who has taught in DeKalb, Walker, and now Chickamauga City Schools. The Painters and their son, Will, are members of Oakwood Baptist Church in Chickamauga.

The Walking Horse Industry Is Laughable - And Response
