City police confiscated a Ford Expedition and almost $30,000 in cash after a drug arrest in East Brainerd.

An officer said he checked the Rainbow Creek Apartments on Standifer Gap Road, then got word that a woman had shown up at Women's East Hospital on Gunbarrel Road shot in the stomach.

The officer said he waited at the entrance to Rainbow Creek and spotted a black Ford Expedition driven by James S. Evans, 52, with Kristy Wooten-Housley as a passenger.

He said inside the vehicle were multiple pills, a plastic bag filled with baggies containing white powder, a cake of what appeared to be crack cocaine and an item that appeared to be designed for use of LSD.

At the Evans apartment, officers found more pills, baggies, syringes and other drug paraphernalia. There was "a large quantity of cash and coins" that added to $29,961.

Evans was arrested on drug charges.

Evans pleaded guilty in February 2010 before Criminal Court Judge Don Poole to possession of crack cocaine for resale and got a three-year prison sentence. He got two years for possession of a handgun. He was given suspended sentences in the cases.
