#1  Black History Living Museum! Want to take a journey back in time? Then come join us for the Black History Living Museum, February 20th-24th!This event is for everyone and it's free. Art Gallery 5:30pm-6:15pm  Presentation 6:30pm-7:00pm  Presented at these community centers:  20th- North Chattanooga, 21st Carver, 23rd Eastdale, 24th Shepherd.  

 #2 Swim Lessons Registration Begins! Call Peggy at 697-1385! Class Fees only $34 at Brainerd and South Chatt indoor heated pools!  Includes 8 Half Hour Lessons Beginner Lessons: Skills learned include: floating and gliding on front and back independently, flutter kicking, basic components of front  and back crawl, submerging to pick up objects, and following basic water safety rules. Advanced Lessons: Skills learned include: endurance swimming in front and back crawl strokes, learning the basics of breast stroke,  elementary backstroke, treading water and jumping into deep water from the side.   

#3  G.E.D. Assessment Testing-free! February 23rd and March 8th from 5-7pm at Brainerd Complex, 1010 North Moore Road. Please spread the word. Transportation provided at 4pm at 3 locations noted on flyer. Call 643-6800 for more information.    

 #4 Discovery Fun Zone! Therapeutic Recreation has teamed up with the Creative Discovery museum for an evening of food and fun and it's free. Call Jessie at 643-5716 for more.   

#5 Rescue Prom-3500 Prom Dresses given away this Saturday. This is an effort to give young ladies who may not be able to afford such a dress, a night to remember at their 2012 Prom. Rescue Prom, created in the wake of the tragic April 27 tornadoes, has once again secured thousands of dresses, shoes, and accessories to be given away Saturday, Feb. 25, at the South Chattanooga Complex starting at 9:30 a.m.  

#6 Hunter Education Course at Patten Center in Lookout Valley. February 25th, 9am-3pm. Must complete the online course study or request CD. Bring test printout, SS# and #2 pencil. Pre-register by calling the instructor, David Byrd, at (423) 825-0438. No calls before 11:00 a.m. and no Sunday calls please. Do not bring guns. Be safer and more responsible sportsman by having knowledge of hunter ethics and responsibility in a number of roles from safety, first aid and to survival to firearms and shooting range procedures.

Author Rachel Burson Will Have A Book Signing June 2

Author Rachel Burson will have a book signing June 2, from 1-3 p.m., at Book Gallery 4900 Hixson Pike. Ms. Burson, a resident of Rossville, will be available to sign copies of her book, Aalayah's Hope. Alan Shuptrine Acknowledged By Watercolor Association

Hotel Planned At South End Of The Walnut Street Bridge

Vision Hospitality is making plans to erect a Fairfield Inn by Marriot at the south end of the Walnut Street Bridge.  The Chattanooga-based hotel group wants to build the hotel at the current site of an office building that formerly housed several dentists. Teen Killed When Thrown From Hood Of Car At Old Kmart On Signal Mountain Road

A 17-year-old was killed Sunday night when he was thrown from the hood of a vehicle at the old Kmart on Signal Mountain Road. At 8:34 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to 680 Signal Mountain Road where they found the teen suffering from head trauma. He was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.  Traffic investigators said ...
