• 74th meeting, 63rd in league play...Mocs lead 47-26...41-21 all-time in regular-season SoCon play...series began in 1921-22, there were four meetings prior to UTC’s move into the SoCon in 1977-78...74 games against the Paladins is tied for 3rd-most in school history behind Samford (82) and Western Carolina (78), with ETSU.

• Brandon Sebirumbi leads Furman averaging 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game shooting a team-best 51.7 percent from the field...Charlie Reddick adds 10.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest shooting 38.3 percent (54-141) from three-point range.

OPENING TIPS

• Saturday’s regular-season finale against Samford is the renewal of the Southern Rail Rivalry. It’s also Senior Night as the Mocs honor four this season. The SoCon Saturday ticket package is available featuring a lower level ticket with a food voucher (pizza, popcorn, coke) all for just $10. the ticket must be purchased in advance of game day.

• The Mocs lead the SoCon in assists (14.5) and FG% defense (40.4). Senior captain Keegan Bell (Huntsville, Ala.) leads in assists (6.2) and assist/turnover ratio (2.2). For UTC team ranking and SoCon leaders see page five. Individual ranks are in the player notes on page four.

• Chattanooga’s bench has out-scored its opposition a vast majority of the time this season averaging 22.4 points per game to 19.6 by opponents. Over the last nine games, the bench posted 26.1 per contest compared to 21.0 by its opposite numbers.

• The Mocs are hoping for the return of sophomore forward Z. Mason (Nashville, Tenn.) before the conference tournament. His availability for Thursday is probable at this point. In his first 15 games at UTC, Mason averaged 3.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. When league play resumed in September, he had an impressive six-game run before getting sidelined by his knee. Mason averaged 11.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest over that timeframe shooting 53.5 percent (23-43) from the floor and 73.3 percent (22-30) from the line. His minutes spiked as well from 12.9 per game in the first 15 to 22.7 over the six-game run.

Zach Stephens Named Semifinalist For NCBWA’s Dick Howser Trophy

Tennessee Tech sophomore Zach Stephens, a former Soddy Daisy High School standout, has been named a semifinalist for the 2012 Dick Howser Trophy by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). KNOXVILLE _- Athletes in Action recently announced its complete roster for its upcoming basketball exhibition tour of Poland and Germany. Hotel Planned At South End Of The Walnut Street Bridge

Vision Hospitality is making plans to erect a Fairfield Inn by Marriot at the south end of the Walnut Street Bridge.  The Chattanooga-based hotel group wants to build the hotel at the current site of an office building that formerly housed several dentists. Teen Killed When Thrown From Hood Of Car At Old Kmart On Signal Mountain Road

A 17-year-old was killed Sunday night when he was thrown from the hood of a vehicle at the old Kmart on Signal Mountain Road. At 8:34 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to 680 Signal Mountain Road where they found the teen suffering from head trauma. He was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.  Traffic investigators said ...
