Leon Felder, 69, peacefully died on Monday February 20, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.   

Leon received salvation at an early age and was a faithful member of Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church. He attended elementary and middle school in Chattanooga, and graduated from Howard High School. 

After graduation, Leon attended Tennessee State University and Alabama A&M University until January 1963 when he joined the United States Army. Leon worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a supervisor and the Veterans Administration Hospital as a certified nurse for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Kendall P. Felder and his brother, Jackie Avilla.

Leon is survived by his mother, Mrs. Christine Watkins Felder, his two beloved children, Anthony Lee and Tiffany Renae, his grandson, Keith (KC) and granddaughter, Raeanna, his brother, Reverend Nigal Felder, sister-in-law, Reverend Lindoria B. Felder, aunts, uncles, and cousins from Chicago, St. Louis, and Kansas City. Cherishing his memory as well are two nieces, one nephew, one grand niece and one grand nephew. Finally, he leaves some long time special friends; Inez Cliff, James Cunningham, Robert Parks, and Jeff Sears; all who assisted and cared for him until his earthly transition was complete.

Funeral services will b e held on Saturday, February 25, at Greater Second Baptist Church at noon with Reverend Steve Caudle officiating. Interment will be on Monday, February 27, at 10 a.m. at National Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, February 24, with the family receiving friends from  6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.

Mark “Mike” Manley Crandall, 75, of Soddy Daisy, died on May 21, 2012. Mike moved to Chattanooga in 1967. Teen Killed When Thrown From Hood Of Car At Old Kmart On Signal Mountain Road

A 17-year-old was killed Sunday night when he was thrown from the hood of a vehicle at the old Kmart on Signal Mountain Road.
