Cleveland Woman, 22, Dies In Cookeville Wreck Along With Marine Fiancee

A young Cleveland, Tn., woman and her boyfriend were killed in a traffic accident at Cookeville, Tn., on Saturday.

Kayla Celeste Biddy, 22, died along with Brian C. Walton, 21, of Cookeville when a truck ran off the road in a curve down a steep hill, struck a tree and landed on its top about 150 feet from the road.

Injured in the wreck were the driver, Randy B.

Johnson, 29, of  Smithville, Tn.,  and Kandle R. Betcher, 19, of Cookeville.

The wreck happened on Highway 135 near Spring Creek in Jackson County about 5:20 a.m. The couple who died were in the back seat.  Troopers said they were killed instantly.

The four had reportedly been four-wheeling, according to the Cookeville Herald Citizen.

Brian Walton was in the Marines and had recently become engaged to Ms. Biddy.

Ms. Biddy was a 2012 graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a degree in business management. She was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Zeta Tau Alpha. She was also a 2007 graduate of Bradley Central High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. 

Her family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
