We Are Americans

Super Bowl XLVI was a great metaphor for who we are as a nation.  Just listening to Amanda and Blake Shelton sing America the Beautiful and Kelly Clarkson’s Star Spangled Banner said it all for the athletes and fans and all the viewers who, for a brief moment in time, all came together with a deep feeling of love for our country, no matter what our differences and concerns of the day.

There is a great sense of national pride in moments like this; this great American spirit and pride that brings us together as a nation, whether we are Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Tea Party members, believers or non-believers, and of all races and creeds, we all stand together as one to honor our flag, our anthem and our national pride.

One thing is for sure:  when Americans come together, we are as a people hard to beat.  At a time when much in the world is in a state of great upheaval, and when we here in the United States must also consider these difficult times ahead, it is indeed the spirit of Super Bowl XLVI that can help us remember what is feels like to come together and be one.

We must remember that above all, we are America, through thick and thin; even more, together as Americans, we can help make our country and the world a better place.  We can, as a people, set a better example.  We can do better together.  We are America.
