Honorees Announced For The Girls Inc. Unbought And Unbossed Awards

Girls Inc. has announced the honorees for the 2012 UnBought and UnBossed Awards. Named for the phrase coined by Congressmember Shirley Chisholm, the awards honor Hamilton County women who through their career and/or community service have improved the lives of girls and women. 

As in past years, each of the 10 honorees is chosen from nominations submitted by community members by a girl participating in Girls Inc.’s Women’s History Project. The honorees are:

Beverly Johnson, City of Chattanooga      
Louisa Mesich, CSAS
Dr. Valerie Radu, UTC             
Dr. Maricela Rodriquez, Dentist

Lauren Templeton, Templeton Capital Management    
Peggy Thomas, Retired GPS Teacher                   
Dr. Carolyn Thompson, Retired University Professor, Community Volunteer       
     

The 2012 UnBought and UnBossed Awards breakfast will be held on Wednesday, March 28, from 7:30-9 a.m. at The Chattanoogan. The event will be emceed by Alison Lebovitz. 

Tables of eight are $300 and individual tickets are $40. Both can be purchased at www.unboughtandunbossed.net . Prices increase after March 16.  Program ads are also available.

Dalton Fire Department Promotes 2

The Dalton Fire Department opened the May meeting of the Dalton Public Safety Commission by presenting two candidates for promotion.  Lieutenants Steve Hollingsworth and Brandon Bray both had their promotions to the rank of captain confirmed by unanimous vote of the commission.  Captain Hollingsworth has served with the Dalton Fire Department since April 1987. Signal Mountain Principal Suspended For Rest Of Year

Hamilton County School Superintendent Rick Smith has notified Tom McCullough that he is suspended from his job as principal of Signal Mountain high school and middle school.
