Hops with the Frogs

This FeBREWary has 29 Days! Get a leg up on Leap Year 2012 by celebrating at the Aquarium on Sat, Feb. 25th during "Hops with the Frogs." Admission to Ocean Journey and River Journey is included and we encourage you to tour Ocean Journey anytime before “Hops with the Frogs”. After your tour, join the brew masters from Big River Grille in the Rivers of the World gallery of River Journey from 6:30-8 p.m. for a special beer tasting. Enjoy toe-tappin' music, munchies and then go green by kissing a frog for conservation. Later, hop over to Big River Grille with your Aquarium admission ticket to receive a free appetizer before dinner.

Sring Break – Keeper Kids
March 10-April 8

Offered on-site on a first-come, first-served basis.
Spring break turns into a wild adventure at the Tennessee Aquarium when kids get a chance to get closer to some of the Aquarium’s most amazing animals and discover what it’s like to care for them. Explore behind the scenes, meet penguin experts, feed feisty otters, make enrichment toys for playful parrots or learn what it takes to properly wrangle reptiles. Kids may choose two of the 19 different activities offered throughout the day. Each program lasts approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Williams Island Family Adventure Cruises
March 10-April 8
Daily at 12:30 p.m.
For all ages
Admission fee: $20 / per person (Age 3 and up), $18 / per person under age 3.
Advance registration no required, but recommended.
Zip downstream aboard the River Gorge Explorer on a new excursion that will add some excitement to your family’s spring break. The Williams Island Family Adventure Cruise takes passengers to “the Gateway to the Gorge.” During each 90-minute adventure, the young and young at heart will discover Native American and Civil War history, and gain insights into the wildlife that call this wooded island home. Time will be spent on each trip observing an osprey nest and heron rookery. Your naturalist guide helps locate other animals and leads an on-board scavenger hunt.
These cruises will depart daily March 10th to April 8th from the Chattanooga Pier.

A Day at Pickett’s Trout Ranch

Join Steve Pickett and an Aquarium expert at Pickett’s Trout Ranch, a working aquaculture facility in Whitwell, Tn., to learn the challenges of how to successfully raise trout sustainably, and the importance of local inland fish farms. Then tour the ranch, from the headwaters of the cave that supplies water for trout raceways, to the hatchery, and finally to trout runs where fish are allowed to mature to a size that can be sold. Children will even have a chance to feed the trout and you are free to stay and fish for your own dinner in the trout ponds. Corn is provided for bait, but please bring live bait for better fishing. There is a picnic pavilion if you’d like to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy.
Rod Rental: $2 per hour or bring your own
Trout: $3.75 per pound live weight (there is no catch and release)
Trout Fillets: add $0.75 per fish
