Walker Appointed Life Care Centers Senior Vice President Of Operations

Bart Walker has been promoted to the position of senior vice president of operations for Life Care Centers of America.

Mr. Walker was previously vice president of operations. In his new role, he will coordinate the efforts of care in each of Life Care’s eight divisions around the country. The appointment was effective on Feb. 1.

“Bart Walker was ordained to be a leader of operations for skilled nursing facilities,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “He grew up in a family known for concern and help for others, and his father is a long-time professional in the skilled nursing business. Bart is a product of our administrator-in-training program, and his career has been marked by excellence in every level of his advancement. His professional skills are only exceeded by his depth of compassion for people.”

Starting in 1997 as administrator-in-training in Crossville, Mr. Walker has served Life Care as an executive director, senior executive director, regional vice president and campus manager. His work has been based in skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, as well as a continuum-of-care campus, in Tennessee and north Georgia.

Mr. Walker has earned several awards while with the Life Care family. In 2009, Garden Plaza at Lawrenceville, Ga., was named Century Park and Associates’ Independent Living Community of the Year under his leadership. In 2008, Life Care Center of Lawrenceville was named Life Care’s Facility of the Year under his direction. And in 2002, he won one of two President’s Awards for Life Care’s Eastern Division.

Mr. Walker earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville.

Originally from Sparta, Tenn., Mr. Walker currently resides in Cleveland with his wife, Julie, and their five children: Anna, Abby, Alex, Andrew and Austin.

Tennessee Announces Start Of Prevention Certification Process

The Tennessee Certification Board has announced the start of the statewide prevention credentialing process.  June 1 will mark the start of a 90 day grandfathering period for acceptance.  Professionals with a background have the opportunity to receive a Certified Prevention Specialist credential without examination if they meet training, working and supervision requirements. ...
