Max Hammontree, 87, of Rocky Face, Ga., died Monday, February 6, 2012 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tissie Travillian Hammontree.
Mr. Hammontree attended Rocky Face Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army/Air Force and was a POW in WWII.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Judy Hammontree of Rocky Face; and one granddaughter and her husband, Amie and Chris Beavers of Villanow.
The funeral service for Mr. Hammontree will be held Thursday, February 9, at 11 a.m. at the Westside Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Goss and Rev. Jim Brinkley officiating. Burial will be at Dunnagan Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 8 from 4-8 p.m. at the Julian Peeples Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Building Fund or Rocky Face Baptist Church.
