Kenneth Dean Mason, 83, of Springfield, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.  

Mr. Mason was born on September 12, 1928 in Stratton, Ne. He lived in Chattanooga for many years and attended Brainerd Hills Baptist Church.  

He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army. He worked for  Kmart Corporation for 43 years and managed the Fort Oglethorpe Kmart for 16 years.   

He is survived by his wife, Betty Mason; six children, Russell (Jill) Mason, Rebecca (Dale) Sparks, Peggy Sue Harden, Rochelle (Jerome) Hunt, Tara (Robert) White, Gary D. Mason; nine grandchildren, Jeremy and Zachary Sparks, Michael and Erin Mason, Danielle and Kelsey Harden, Erica Mason, Cody Mason, Hunter White; four great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Samson. 

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend John Barber officiating. Interment in National Cemetery will take place at a later date.  

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road, Chattanooga.

Charlotte Lively Johnson, long-time Chattanoogan, died May 18 at 103 years of age.  She was born Sept. 27, 1908 in Prineville, Oregon, daughter of Fletcher and Annie (Arnold) Lively.
