Why I'm With Newt - And Response (2)

  • Thursday, March 1, 2012

My father was a Goldwater conservative . As a child I often listened and paid attention as he and others would discuss politics and world affairs.  I paid attention in civics class in school, learning quickly about how the U.S. Constitution was founded, by whom, and why.  I paid attention throughout the years, watching each and every President and their administrations. And even though I am a registered Republican, I have voted a split ticket if I felt someone else was qualified for a position.

My point here is to explain that I have observed, watched and learned how both parties, and each branch of government works. I understand how our political system is supposed to work.

Throughout the years, both parties have evolved into a more progressive mode, growing government, increasing debt, as corruption took hold and both parties are guilty of selling out to lobbyists, unions, Wall Street and special interests, padding the pockets of corrupt politicians and their buddies. I also know the economy has cycles, but that no matter how bad it got, we've always rebounded, because of the resiliance of the American people.

Every president has made mistakes-after all they are only human, and they take advice from those they surround themselves with.  The "danger" signal for me began when President Obama surrounded himself with self-proclaimed Communists, Marxists and Socialists. And knowing his radical "Saul Alinsky" beliefs as well as his connection with George Soros, the man who funds much of the media and socialist agenda, I soon came to the conclusion that this President has an agenda to fundamentally change America.  This is being done by systematically and purposefully collapsing our economy, causing division among Americans with class warfare rhetoric and race baiting, and weakening our defense which lowers the moral of our men and women in uniform, and "necessarily increasing the cost of electricity," using regulation instead of legislation to stop our country from becoming energy independent, thus relying on terrorist regimes to dictate the cost of oil, raising our gas prices , which trickles down to food and clothing pricing, etc.

And the sleeping giant, formerly the silent majority has awakened.

Our country cannot withstand another four years of President Obama's failed leadership and purposeful destruction of our nation. We must replace him with a man of vision, big ideas, experience and itellect.  We must have a candidate who can beat President Obama in a debate, with facts, knowledge, grit and determination.  I've done my research on all the candidates. I think that any person who runs for president is a patriot. It is not easy putting your life on hold, allowing the media to rip your life apart (which by the way, was not done to Mr. Obama), criticizing you for your past misdeeds, both in your personal and political life.

I then realized right from the beginning that the media and establishment GOP has already elected Mitt Romney for us. I personally resent that. I think that we the people can choose our own candidate. I have come to my own conclusion that Newt Gingrich is the one candidate who has the proven record and accomplishments to not only beat Obama in a debate but also the ability to lead our nation from its current path to destruction, back to prosperity.

Don't let the media tell you its already over. It's not.. It's just begun. And I know most folks think primary elections are not as important as the general elections, but trust me, this one is probably the most important election we can vote in.

Tennessee is a crucial state for Newt Gingrich. It takes delegates to win, and if enough of us Tennesseans get out and vote for Newt, he can get the delegates he needs on Super Tuesday to keep on going.

During Ronald Reagan's presidency, then continuing with Bill Clinton, Speaker Gingrich was able to lead congress to balance the budget for four straight years- this has never been done before or since. He also was able to get President Clinton to finally sign the welfare reform bill, and he kept each and every commitment in this contract with America.

These things were difficult things to do, but with grit and determination he was able to do them. This is the kind of person our country needs now.  Yes, he has made mistakes, both in politics and his personal life. He has apologized to us, and he has turned his life around, asking God for forgiveness. As a person who was redeemed by the grace of God myself, I am not fit to judge another human being. I believe Newt is sincere in his love of this country, and I am convinced that he is the best chance we have of beating Obama and restoring our great nation.

Please get out and vote for Newt Gingrich on Super Tuesday.

I totally agree with Debbie Davis-Peck's summary of why she's for Newt.  All the politicians have baggage, but the main difference with Newt is he's come clean about his past indiscretions and has publicly admitted remorse and repentance.  We can and should put those to rest.

Moving forward, he is the best candidate to level Obama in a debate with his intellect, knowledge and wit; it doesn't hurt that Obama is just plain clueless either.  Well said, Ms. Davis Peck.

Ms Peck seems to do all of her investigating of the political spectrum on Fox News.  Her diatribes against Obama are all quotes from Glenn Beck - nNot one bit of which is fully truthful.

She states that Obama is a fan of Saul Alinsky.  How dare Obama.  Why would our President admire a former community organizer, especially one that founded such heinous organizations as F.I.G.H.T. ( Freedom, Integration, God, Honor, Today).  How radical it is for Alinsky to state that his organization, "wages war against poverty, misery, delinquency, disease, injustice, hopelessness, despair, and unhappiness.  Really, just who in his right mind would admire someone that promoted such radical beliefs?

Ms Peck blasts Obama for being supported by billionaire George Soros.  I guess it is ok for the Koch Brothers, or billionaire Rupert Murdoch, a media giant in his own right, in that he owns Fox News, and the Wall Street Journal among his varied media empire, to support a Republican.  But, gasp, don't even think of allowing a billionaire to support liberal causes.  Soros has given over 8 Billion dollars to human rights, public health, and education causes.  I wonder how much Murdoch, or the Koch's, have given to improve society and the lives of others?  Soros never contributed a dime to any political cause until George W Bush was in office.  Soros did all he could to ensure Democrat's took control from that point.

Ms Peck states that Obama's cabinet is full of "Communists", which of course is a complete lie and doesn't even justify a response.  I do recall the crying Glenn Beck talking about how our government was now full of "Communists" because of our "Socialist President."  Glenn Beck's silly rants were even too ridiculous for Fox News, so they let him go.

Ms Peck states that Obama has been making us more reliant on foreign oil.  That assertion is strange, since we are now importing less foreign oil than we have in decades.  Wasn't one of Obama's promises in his campaign that he would make us less reliant on foreign oil?  Sounds to me like he has been fulfilling that promise.  Don't even think that it has caused our prices to climb at the pump either, because we are currently exporting oil at record rates.  In other words, we are drilling more oil than we can consume.

Ms Peck also states that Obama is trying to bring our economy down.  That is also strange, since our Dow, and NASDAQ are recording all time profits.  Obama, like him or not, has been doing all he can, with the obstructionism thrown in fornt of him, to bring our economy back from the disaster that it was when he took office.

In short, Ms Peck is good at "parroting" the Republican misinformation, and innuendo, and has done very little digging on her own to find the facts.  Had she done so, she would know what a "train-wreck" Newt Gingrich would be as President.  Ms Peck is also gravely in error in asserting that Gingrich's "Contract with America", which was taken from Reagan's 1985 "State of the Union Address", was completely enacted.  That contract called for Congress to be subject to the same laws as the public, term limits of 12 years, fewer congressional committee's, shorter period of time that any one person could head a committee, smaller government, and no closed door meetings.  As you can see, that contract was forgotten the day following the election.

She fails to mention how Gingrich orchestrated the "shutting down" of our federal government for the longest time period in history.  He had insisted on increases in Medicare part B payments, reductions in education, and a balanced budget.  Clinton refused, stating that the financial restrictions would keep him from being able to dip into the treasury for excessive spending problems, in case of emergencies or war, and force him to borrow money from other nations, such as China.  Gingrich lost his battle to increase Medicare payments, and reduce education spending, but he did get his balanced budget proposal.

Here is the agenda that Newt Gingrich has been promoting.  He wants to "end" child labor laws, minimum wages, Affirmative Action, Social Security, Medicare, the Equal Rights Act, unemployment, welfare, environmental regulations, workers rights to collective bargaining, banking and finance regulations, consumer protection laws, and political donation limitations.  That isn't someone that I could support, and judging from the percentage of votes he has been getting lately, neither does anyone else that really takes to time to study the man, and the issues at hand.
