Crabtree Farms Has Annual Spring Plant Sale April 21-22

The 12th Annual Crabtree Farms Spring Plant Sale is Saturday, April 22, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday, April 22, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.  The sale will include local vendors, live music, gardening talks and thousands of vegetable, herb and flowering plants to choose from.

The event is free and open to the public, and parking is free.
 

Saturday, April 21, Schedule of Events:

11-11:30 a.m.  Yoga for Gardeners with Jennie Mac Merrill from Clearspring Yoga

12 p.m.  Tour of Crabtree Farms

1 p.m.  Backyard Fruit Gardening with John Geerling of Home Flavors

Sunday, April 22, Schedule of Events:

Crabtree Farms will offer over 10,000 organically-grown plants, including heirloom vegetable plants, culinary herbs, berry bushes and annual flowers for purchase. The sale offers plants suitable for a variety of growing conditions, including plants for containers and shade. Crabtree Farms’ transplants are suited for the climate of Chattanooga and surrounding areas.  Master gardeners will be on-site to answer customers gardening questions.

Vegetables for sale include: ‘Cherokee Purple’ Tomato, ‘Carmen’ Sweet Peppers, and ‘Zephyr’ Squash
Herbs for sale include: ‘Chocolate’ Mint, ‘Spanish Eyes’ Lavender, Lemongrass, St. John’s Wort and Stevia 
Flower varieties for sale include: ‘Empress of India’ Nasturtium, and ‘Durango Outback’ Marigold

Hand-crafted and garden goodies will be available from festival vendors, including specialty herb varieties and herbal products from Possum Creek Herbs, lip balm and soap from 423 Balm, and hostas from Silvers Elbert Nursery.  For live entertainment, Clark Williams, of the New Binkley Brothers, will be playing on Saturday, while local picker Lewis Oehmig will be performing on Sunday. 
 
Crabtree Farms will also be releasing the Spring 2012 edition of the TasteBuds Local Food Guide during the plant sale.  Free copies will be available.

Crabtree Farms Annual Spring Plant Sale and Festival encourages Chattanoogans to support and grow their own food, while increasing their self-sufficiency and access to fresh produce.
