Congressman Chuck Fleischmann and Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) toured the Chickamauga Lock this morning.  Rep. Shuster is the chairman of the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials, and is a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.  The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has jurisdiction over the Chickamauga Lock.

He said, “I thank Congressman Fleischmann for inviting me to visit the great city of Chattanooga and the Chickamauga Lock.  Rep. Fleischmann is the newest Member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, but he has made his presence known by his hard work and dedication to the needs of his district.

“Having seen the Lock for myself, I can appreciate its importance to Chattanooga and the surrounding region.  I look forward to working with Rep. Fleischmann on addressing the infrastructure needs of his district."

Rep. Fleischmann said, “It is a pleasure to welcome Chairman Shuster to Chattanooga, so he can see firsthand the importance of the Chickamauga Lock to the people of East Tennessee.  As a newly elected Congressman, I worked to get on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee so that I could address the Chickamauga Lock.  This has been an ongoing issue for many years, and it is time that we find a solution.  The Chickamauga Lock is critical to our great business climate in East Tennessee, and I appreciate Chairman Shuster taking the time to visit.”
