J.C. Morrison, Jr., 74, of Dalton, Ga., died Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga.

J.C. was born June 3, 1937 in Dalton, and worked in law enforcement most of his life with the Dalton Police Department, Whitfield County Sheriff's Department, Murray County Sheriff's Department and the last 25 in security at the Hamilton Medical Center. He was a member of the IOOF (Odd Fellows) Lodge #72 in Dalton.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Morrison, Sr.; and his wife, Rosalie Loretta Rumsey. 

He is survived by his mother, Rose Lee Crider Morrison of Dalton; son, Mark David Morrison of Dalton; daughters, Carol Ann Parker and her fiancée, Bill Boak of Concord, N.C., Teresa Kaye Phillips and her husband, Julian of Chickamauga, Christy Jo McEntire and her husband, Jerry of Chatsworth and Kimberly Rose Martinez of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, David and Darlene Morrison; sisters and brothers-in-law, Stella Harrell, Laura and Waymon Kile and Dianne and David Pearson all of Dalton; grandchildren, Robert Griggs, Edward McEntire, Carl Judson Parker, Courtney Rose Morrison, Christina Morrison and Caitlyn Morrison; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. J.C. Morrison, Jr. will be held Tuesday, March 27, at 4 p.m. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Crider officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at the Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. His grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Monday, March 26 and from 12-4 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at the Ponders Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.


Heuser, Valetta Jean (Rock Spring)

Valetta Jean Heuser, 93, of Rock Spring, died on Monday, May 20, 2013 in a local hospital. Mrs. Heuser was a charter member of Ft. Henderson, James G. "Jaybird" Sr. (Chickamauga)

James G. “Jaybird” Henderson, Sr., 66, of Chickamauga, died on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at his residence following a three-year battle with cancer.
