Salvation Army Has Disaster Training Saturday

  • Friday, March 30, 2012

The Salvation Army continues to serve those affected from this year’s and last year’s storms. To be prepared for future possible disasters, The Salvation Army must continue to build its volunteer force through Disaster Services Training. This training will be going on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. at The Salvation Army, 1019 North Moore Road.

Oftentimes, The Salvation Army is the first relief agency on the scene of a disaster and the last to leave, offering food, beverages, emotional and spiritual care, and long-term care in the aftermath. In order to be better prepared for the next emergency disaster, The Salvation Army is offering specialized training, so volunteers will learn how to provide these services.

"Our volunteers are the life of our organization, especially during times of disasters," comments Major Al Newsome, Salvation Army area commander of the Greater Chattanooga Area.
