The Baylor boys soccer team hosted Pope John Paul II in a region soccer match on Saturday afternoon. Baylor ended up scoring three second half goals to win 3-0 over the visiting Knights.
Philipp Leeger got credit from an own goal by JPII in the 47th minute. Robert Stagmaier scored at the 75th minute from an assist by Austin Rehm. The final goal came at the 78th minute from Zach Payne with an assist from Philipp Leeger.
"I am extremely excited to get a huge region win at home," Blair said.
"I thought we had our best two training sessions the past two days and they players were focused today. We had a 10-15 minute lapse in the second half but after that I thought we played well. It was a great team win with so many player contributing."
Baylor out shot the visitors 15-7
Baylor's Henrique Ribeiro and five saves and Dylan Zenga had eight saves for JPII
Baylor improves to 4-0-2 overall and 1-0-0 in the region.
