Joyce Smith “Joy” Miller, 65, of Lexington, Alabama, formerly of Bridgeport, Alabama, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer.

The daughter of the late Andrew, Jr. and Katherine Payne Smith, she was a clerk at Bellefonte and Browns Ferry Nuclear Plants for 10 years until she retired from the public workforce to become a full-time mom.  She loved her family and enjoyed spending her time caring for and doting on her children, step-children and grandchildren.  A member of the Bridgeport Church of Christ, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Andrew and Sally Samples Smith, John and Delia Murray Payne and husband, Stevie Miller.

Survivors include her sons, James (Tracy) Austin of Lexington, Jason (Heather) Austin of Guntersville, Ala., Chris (Paige) Miller of Athens, Ala., Jeremy (Sunny) Miller of Birmingham, Ala., and Jon (Amanda) Miller of Athens, Ala.; grandchildren, Joshua, Megan, Andrew, Allie and Evan Austin, Madison, Emily, Reese and Kennedy Miller; brother, Jim Ambuehl of Little Falls, Mn.; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Central on Saturday, April 14, with interment at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 13, from 4-6 p.m. Central time at the funeral home.
