Winder Binder Gallery & Bookstore will present the 5th Annual Faux Bridges Art and Literature Festival Friday-Sunday.
Winder Binder will host a book signing and reception for John Wheeler, Jr. (aka David Jackson), author of “The Chronicles of Cadillac Dave: True Confessions of a Drug Kingpin,” on Friday from 7-9 p.m. The four book series recounts the 1970’s youth counterculture movement in Chattanooga. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
The artistic portion of the event will begin on Saturday from 12-7 p.m. in the parking lot adjacent to the gallery. Nearly two dozen artists from five states will be participating.
Many different media will be on exhibit, including painting, metal work, glass work, sculpture, mixed media assemblage, and printmaking.
The gallery will host a performance by the 4th Ward Afro-Klezmer Orchestra on Saturday, beginning at 8 p.m. This event is produced in conjunction with the Shaking Ray Levi Society. The 4th Ward was name by Atlanta Magazine as one of the “67 Things Every Atlantan Must Do.”
The art festival will continue outside on Sunday from noon-6 p.m. while the final literature event of Faux Bridges; Southern Light and Friends, will take place in the gallery from 2-4 p.m. There will be readings of poems and prose from Rebecca Cook, Finn Bille, Jenny Sadre-Orafai, Ray Zimmerman, E. Smith Gilbert, Bruce Majors and Helga Kidder.
