Earth Week Celebration At Christ United Methodist

Thursday, April 12, 2012

A healing service at Christ United Methodist Church, 8645 East Brainerd Road, will be held in Trinity-Woodmore Chapel on Sunday, at 12:15 p.m.

During celebration of Earth Week, on Wednesday night, the program will explore the theology that is the foundation of Christians' stewardship of the earth. All children and youth activities will relate to the handiwork of God's world. At the conclusion of the program, participants will go to the area behind PetSmart for a 30-minute community cleanup. There is a strip of grass that is covered in trash that runs parallel to the road that leads to Wynnsong Movie Theaters. The group will take 30 minites to pick up the litter. This is an opportunity for children to see first hand the effects of littering and a simple way they can be caretakers of the earth.

A Daddy-Daughter Red Carpet event has been rescheduled for April 21 at 6 p.m. in the Commons. The ticket price is $20 per family, with an additional fee for pictures. Tickets may be purchased at the information desk on Sunday, Wednesday from 5-6 p.m. or in the church office during the week.

A Mad Hatter's Tea Party and lunch will be held Saturday, April 28, from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The guest speaker will be June Scobee Rodgers. All ladies are invited. Tickets are $15 per person and are available at the information desks on Sundays and in the church office during the week.
