Two Chattanooga Police patrol vehicles collided late Friday night during pursuit of a speeding vehicle on Hixson Pike.
Both officers involved were taken to a hospital and were treated and released.
At approximately 11:34 p.m., the police vehicles were involved in the collision at 5442 Hixson Pike.
Officer Casey Cleveland was driving southbound on Hixson Pike when he observed a vehicle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. He clocked the vehicle with his radar and it indicated that the vehicle was traveling 67 mph in a 45-mph zone. He attempted a u-turn to catch the speeding vehicle.
As Officer Cleveland was turning around, he struck the front driver's side of Officer Almir Dizdarevic’s patrol vehicle.
Officer Dizdarevic was traveling northbound on Hixson Pike trying to catch up to the same speeding vehicle. After the vehicles collided, Officer Dizdarevic’s car continued traveling into a yard. It came to a rest against a house.
Both drivers were taken to Northpark Hospital where they were treated and released for minor injuries.
There was no damage observed to the house.
The speeder got away.
