Effie Lee Greeson, “Nannie”, 93, died on Saturday, April 14, 2012. 

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a prayer warrior, and a charter church member at Philadelphia Baptist Church at Oak Hill Road.

In her early years, Mrs. Greeson worked Marmode Hosiery Mill for 30 years. More recently, Mrs. Greeson was very active in her church by singing in the choir, handing out candy to all, praying for requests, cooking for events, and giving quick witted remarks. She was known for her good sense of humor, her cooking, and godly wisdom. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Ellen Collins, her husband of 53 years, Hugh Vance Greeson, five brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include one sister, Alice Matthews of East Brainerd, her two children, Hugh Lee Greeson of Ringgold, Gaile Greeson Ramsey of Hixson, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Reverend Jeremy Fincher and Reverend Randy Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 16, at Philadelphia Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church at Oak Hill, 4501 Oak Hill Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416 in her honor.
