Fred Allen Henderson, 72, of Hixson, died on Sunday, April 15, 2012.

Fred was born on February 5, 1940 in Cohutta, Ga., to parents, Frank and Myrtle Henderson.

He was a graduate of North Whitfield High School and worked 25 years for Interstate/Gulf Life Insurance Company.

He was a member of the Lupton Drive Baptist Church.

Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Myrtle Henderson; grandson, Derrick Stetson Alire; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Wanda Henderson; infant brother, Ray and Twin infant sisters, Helen and Ellen Henderson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Roberta Harcrow Henderson; daughters, Kristie (Jim) Webb, of Whitwell, Ann (Richard) Alire, of East Brainerd; Deborah (Craig) Smith, of Hixson; grandsons, Blake Webb, Andrew Smith, Michael Smith and granddaughters, Britney Webb, Lauren Smith and  many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, in the funeral chapel.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, and on Wednesday, for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge.
