Drowning Victim Was Student At Collegedale Academy

The victim of Saturday's drowning at Harrison Bay State Park was a Collegedale Academy student, Chakamboka Chama.

Friends said he was a good swimmer, who was trying to help someone who was having difficulty in the water when he himself went under.

Students at the academy on Monday mourned their fellow student.

His father is a professor at Southern Adventist University.

The Hamilton County Grand Jury has indicted a Hixson man on a child rape charge. Edward Jackson Thorpe, 52, of 6732 Levi Road, is charged with rape of a child and rape.
