Chattanooga State Softball Wins 2 Over Walters State

Tigers Softball Remains #1 6th Week In A Row

On a day when the national rankings were released and Chattanooga State remained #1, Tiger softball took two conference games from Walters State, 6-0 and 9-6.  With an overall team record of 51-3 and conference mark of 16-0, Ashley Czechner won her 27th game in the first game shutout and Janna Scheff won her 21st in the second, which was saved by Czechner.
 
The Tigers used eight hits to score their six runs as Czechner kept the Walters State bats in check with 11 strikeouts.  After scoring three runs in the first, Shelby Johnson, Marina Wilkerson and Kortney Koroll each hit home runs for the final 6-run margin.
  Johnson and Koroll each had two hits while Korol also had three RBIs.
 
In the second game, Chattanooga State followed the pattern of the first game and scored three runs in the 1st  followed by four in the 2nd and  a final two in the 3rd.  Wilkerson added her second home run of the day along with two hits and two RBIs.  Johnson, Chelsea Burgess, Koroll and MeQuilla Franklin each had two hits as the Tigers totaled 12 hits in the game.
 
"Today my team showed well with timely hitting and four home runs," said Head Coach Beth Keylon-Randolph.  "And Czechner, Scheff and Kadey Robinson battled from the circle to make it a total team effort."
 
The Tigers travel to Gallatin on Friday to take on Volunteer State in a conference doubleheader which concludes the regular season.

Beachy Forced Indoors, Starts Friday In AAA
