Demonstration To Show How Permeable Pavers At New Fairmount Development Soak Up Water
Thursday, April 19, 2012
The Chattanooga Housing Authority, City of Chattanooga Water Quality Program and the Chattanooga Fire Department will present a green infrastructure stormwater management-permeable pavers demonstration at Fairmount Avenue Townhomes.
The 20-minute demonstration, which will involve a fire engine, two specialized fire apparatus and some 25,000 gallons of water, will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. at the new development located at 1311 Fairmount Ave.
Fairmount Avenue Townhomes, scheduled to open in May, will feature nine three-bedroom units and nine two-bedroom units, as well as walking trails and grassy play areas for children. The housing complex will also include solar panels on the roof that will supply about 10 percent of the residents’ energy needs. It is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) development.
Other partners for the stormwater management demonstration are Belgard Environmental, Tennessee American Water and Normal Park Museum Magnet School.
