UTC MBA Information Sessions To Be Held At Volkswagen Academy

Thursday, April 19, 2012

The UTC College of Business will be hosting information sessions regarding its expanded MBA program to be offered on-site at Volkswagen Chattanooga beginning in the fall.  These sessions are open to the public and will be held at the Volkswagen Academy:

April 26, Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

April 27, Friday at 11:30 a.m. (lunch provided)

May 17, Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

May 18 Friday at 11:30 a.m. (lunch provided)

Individuals who are interested may reserve a space by calling 425-4210. The Volkswagen Academy is at 8001 Volkswagen Drive off Exit 9 on I-75.

The part-time, evening Master of Business Administration program is designed for working professionals in Chattanooga and the surrounding areas. The MBA program requires eight core classes in management, marketing, accounting, finance, strategy and entrepreneurship and four electives in any of the business disciplines.  Non-business undergraduate majors may have to take up to four additional background courses.

Students typically take two classes per semester and can complete their MBA in two calendar years, attending year-round.  The program is very flexible, allowing students to take fewer classes or more, depending on their schedules.

Students who are not currently enrolled in the UTC MBA program and are interested in applying for the fall 2012 semester classes at Volkswagen Academy should begin the process by May.  After application is made to UTC, prospective students will have six to eight weeks to prepare for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).

“Students typically take two classes per semester and can complete their MBA in two calendar years, attending year-round.  The program is very flexible, allowing students to take fewer classes or more, depending on their schedules, or they can sit out a semester,” said Dr. Michael Owens, assistant dean, UTC College of Business.

Classes to be offered at Volkswagen Academy in fall semester 2012 are:

  • Monday: Legal Environment of Business and Ethics
  • Tuesday: Foundations of Accounting
  • Wednesday: Management Skills
  • Thursday: Marketing Management

Courses will be video-broadcast to the site in real time by university professors, allowing students at the Volkswagen Academy site to actively participate.
