Chattanooga Chamber Launches Operation Thank You Campaign, Makes Door-to-Door Visits

Monday, April 23, 2012

The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce will salute member businesses for their contributions to the community with door-to-door visits from more than 100 volunteers during the month of May.

The gesture is part of Operation Thank You, the Chattanooga Chamber’s annual campaign to personally thank more than 1,100 area businesses for their membership and foster engagement in its 12 Councils. This year, volunteers in the Chattanooga Chamber’s Ambassador program will distribute packages containing an invitation to each business’ respective Council, a window decal and new member plaques displaying the Chattanooga Chamber’s new logo.

“From the fledgling entrepreneur working solo to build a customer base to the established CEO with employees and clients numbering in the hundreds, business owners of all sizes spend a lot of time thanking those who keep their doors open,” said Mandy Senn, community outreach manager for the Chattanooga Chamber. “Operation Thank You is an opportunity for us to turn the flow of gratitude back toward the source.”

Another key focus of Operation Thank You is to promote member engagement in the Chattanooga Chamber’s Councils.

“Making personal contact is especially important in building rapport and strengthening business relationships,” said Cathie Keegan, who chairs the Operation Thank You Committee and serves as account manager at The Comdyn Group. “These visits reinforce the value of those connections and encourage members to become active participants in the communities in which they operate.”

Chattanooga Chamber Ambassador Christy Viens says she remembers last year’s Operation Thank You campaign as a prime opportunity to build relationships with members she did not already know.

“Sometimes you don’t realize who works right around the corner from you until you knock on their door,” said Ms. Viens. “It really makes the small business owner feel appreciated when they get a personal visit.”

Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem

The Delta Queen is a magnificent part of history and in many ways I'm pleased she is in town. Having the boat where she is is the problem. The boat blocks the view of and from the prettiest park in our town. The crew take many of the parking spots around the park leaving families to park across Frazier and schlep their kids, strollers and picnics to the park. You don't get fireworks ... (click for more)
