UT Vols head football coach, Derek Dooley, is the speaker for the 2012 "Breakfast for Champions" at Orange Grove Center on Friday, April 27, at 7:30 a.
m. in the Bucky Williams Auditorium at Orange Grove Center at 615 Derby Street.
Dooley became the 22nd head coach for the Vols program in 2010. Within weeks, he worked to transform the Vols, leading them to a bowl game, while reshaping the image of the players, the program and team’s athletics facility on the UT campus.
The Athens, Ga. native is the son of Vince Dooley, legendary football coach for the Georgia Bulldogs, who was the 2011 speaker for the breakfast. He joins an elite list of sports legends to speak at the annual breakfast, which has included Gene Stallings (Alabama); sportscasters Lindsey Nelson and Mike Keith; former Vols coaches, Phil Fulmer and Bruce Pearl; and UTC coaches Wes Moore, John Shulman and Russ Huesman.
"Breakfast for Champions" honors those who contribute to the center, or who are the "champions" of showing their support of the center. It is invitation-only, but others are welcome with reservation by emailing pr@orangegrove.org or by calling 308-1160.
