Junior League of Chattanooga will host its fifth annual Kids in the Kitchen event, a day for children to learn about healthy eating habits and exercise. This year's Kids in the Kitchen will be held Saturday, May 12, at The Walker Pavilion in Coolidge Park from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Admission is free.
Activities will include educational games, special performances, physical activities including dance, yoga, chef demonstrations and healthy snack ideas. The event will also include samples, giveaways and prizes from local businesses. Junior League of Chattanooga is partnering with more than 20 local businesses, restaurants, and local dieticians to put on this year's Kids in the Kitchen.
Kids in the Kitchen is a program supported by the Association of Junior Leagues International and its member Leagues. The program began in 2006 in an effort to address the rapid rise of childhood obesity and the associated health issues children have due to being overweight and was added to JLC’s list of programs in 2008.
