After record-breaking sales on opening day this past Sunday at the First Tennessee Pavilion, Chattanooga Market announced Tuesday the commitment to open a new public market in Ringgold, early this summer.
If an effort to support the community of Ringgold and further build downtown weekend pedestrian traffic, the new Market will offer fresh produce and other locally grown/produced foods. The Ringgold Market is expected to run 8-11 a.m. on Saturday mornings beginning early this summer. An exact date will be announced soon. The location will be in front of the downtown courthouse in the heart of Ringgold with opportunity for growth at this location.
"Timing couldn't be better for this expansion," said Chris Thomas, executive director for the Chattanooga Market. "This Sunday our Chattanooga Market is showcasing Ringgold High School, as well as other local organizations who have been instrumental in tornado recovery and readiness. We are looking forward to this partnership in growing their community after they have been working towards recovery from so much devastation this past year." This weekend's events on Sunday are aimed at community awareness and recognition of the one-year mark of last spring's destruction in Ringgold.
Marcy Cirlot, a board member of the Downtown Development Authority, has been instrumental in pairing the Chattanooga Market with the town of Ringgold. "We are looking forward to working together with the Chattanooga Market through the Ringgold City Council to continue improvement in the community," she said. Ms. Cirlot also stated that the Ringgold City Council unanimously agreed on the partnership with the Chattanooga Market.
