Body Of Cleveland, Tn., Man Found In Drifting Boat Off Johnson Road; 2 Cleveland Men Charged With Criminal Homicide

Two Cleveland, Tn., men have been charged with criminal homicide after the body of another Cleveland man was found in the Tennessee River on Wednesday morning.

Chance A. Loftis, 24, and Travis Hayes Jenkins, 28, have been charged in the death of Donald Rogers, 46. They are being held at the Hamilton County Jail.

Authorities found the victim's body in a boat that was adrift off Johnson Road. The location was in the Tennessee River about a mile south of the Highway 60 bridge.

Authorities said earlier, "The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is currently interviewing several persons of interest concerning the death of Mr. Rogers."

A call was received through the 911 Center at approximately 8:59 a.m. from two boaters regarding a possible dead body.  TWRA and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office responded to 4400 Johnson Road to investigate a boat adrift containing the body.  

The body was transported to the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is being handled by both the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the TWRA.
