Chattanooga State Freshman Named National Pitcher Of The Week

Chattanooga State freshman pitcher Taylor Patterson was named NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week for this past week’s performance vs. #4 ranked Columbia State. 

Patterson, from Murray County High School, threw eight innings of two-hit ball and struck out 12 Chargers while leading the Tigers to a 4-1 victory at Columbia State. 

Patterson is now 3-3 for the year with four saves. 

Head Coach Greg Dennis said, “Taylor has been a huge addition to our program and we are certainly excited about his performance and proud of his being named National Pitcher of the Week.


 
The Tigers conclude their regular season with a 3-game series vs. visiting Southwest Tennessee Community College beginning with a 3:30 game on Friday and then a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon. 

The TCCAA Region Tournament will be hosted on the campus of Chattanooga State beginning on Sunday, May 6.  This event will include all 10 community college teams from all over the state.

Coach Dennis said, "This is the first time it has ever been hosted here and we are encouraging everyone to be involved and come watch some games."


GPS Falls In Division II State Softball

Pope John Paul II scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday evening to beat GPS 5-4 in the opening game of the Division II AA state softball tournament.  GPS moves into the losers bracket. City Council Ad Hoc Committee To Study Moving Elections To August, Adding More Districts, Staggering Terms

City Council Vice Chairman Chip Henderson said Tuesday he will lead an ad hoc committee that will look into possibly increasing the number of council districts from the current term. Chief Magistrate Russell Says Ables Should Have Waited To Sign Warrant For Teen Beer Bust
