Army Veteran Had 33-Year Career With EPB & Was Owner Of Famed Kudzu-Eating Goats On Missionary Ridge

Maurice Glen Beavers, 75, of Hixson, died on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at his home.

 

Mr. Beavers retired from EPB after 33 years of service. He was an U.S. Army veteran of 101st Airborne Division in Korea. He enjoyed his goats and was known as the “goat man.” He supplied the kudzu eating goats for Missionary Ridge, which ultimately made national news. 

 

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Beavers; son, Michael Beavers; daughters, Mitzi O’Bryan of Hixson and Melanie Scott of Lakesite; grandchildren, Jeremy Laymon, Mitchell Beavers, Jacob Scott, Brandon O’Bryan and Jordan Scott; niece, Debbie Smith of Harrison.

 

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
