Charles E. Sloan, 63, died on Sunday, April 22, 2012.

He was born Sept. 24, 1948, in Chattanooga.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Sloan and mother, Frances Bell Sloan. 

Charles was a Chemical Operator at Babcock & Wilcox Y-12 plant of Oak Ridge for 31 years. He also served as an usher at Oak Valley Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, exercising, spending time on his computer and relaxing on his front-porch. As a 33rd Mason he had a real passion for the Masonic Order and held leadership rolls in many Houses. 

Charles was a loving husband, stepfather, brother, and friend. 

He is survived by his devoted wife, Maudine. He is also survived by his friend and brother, Robert Sloan and wife, Earnestine; and a very dear uncle, AC Congo, of Cincinnati.

Charles was a lovable person, never complained and was a real friend to all.

The Funeral will be held at noon Saturday, April 28, at Oak Valley Baptist Church, 194 Hampton Road, Oak Ridge, Tn., with the Reverend Hardil Thomas officiating.

Receiving of friends will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27, at Weatherford Mortuary. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, April 28, from 11:30 a.m.-noon. 

Burial follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
