Lady Scots Hosting 2012 NCCAA Mid-East Region Softball Tournament

Covenant College is hosting the 2012 NCCAA Mid-East Region Softball Tournament that opens on Monday.

The host Lady Scots will play their first game at 11 a.m. against the winner of Ohio Christian and Trevecca Nazarene. The champion of the tournament will represent the Mid-East Region at the 2012 NCCAA Softball National Championship on May 10-12 in Botetourt County, Va.

The Lady Scots are enjoying another solid year behind the pitching of Chelsea Krafft and the hitting of Beth Harris. Krafft has dominated in the circle as she has struck out 169 batters in 160 innings with an earned run average of 2.87 and 17 complete-games. Harris has hit 13 home runs this season, tops in the GSAC and would be among the best in NCAA DIII, and driven in 50 runs while hitting a robust .451.

Courtney Wagoner provides support batting behind Harris as she has hit .410 with four home runs and 29 RBIs. After a slow start to the season, Christine Core is batting .336 and has stolen 24 bases in 26 attempts out of the leadoff spot.



East Hamilton Bounces Back To Eliminate Greenbrier, 2-0

East Hamilton softball coach Cara Stiles hopes that her team got all the jitters out in Tuesday night's 12-6 loss to Chester County. City Council Ad Hoc Committee To Study Moving Elections To August, Adding More Districts, Staggering Terms
