Hammond, Myra "Temple" Puett (Cleveland)

Myra “Temple” Puett Hammond, of Cleveland, Tn., died Saturday April 28, 2012, surrounded by family.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and good friend. Mrs. Hammond was a member of the Samples Memorial Baptist Church for the past 46 years, she sang gospel for over 10 years, was a gray lady at Bradley Memorial Hospital, and was a long time member of the American Union bowling League.

She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Luther Puett; her mother, Minnie Sue Barnes Puett; and a brother, Willard Dean Puett.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, H.L. Hammond; son and daughter in law, LaVon and Sandy Hammond of Cleveland; son, Lynn Hammond of Ooltewah; grandchildren, Jill, Cody and Austin Hammond of Ooltewah and Monica Hammond of Cleveland; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Ray Barber of Riceville; sister, Pat Puett Higdon of Chickamauga; sister-in-law, Karen Puett of Athens; a very special friend Lottie Watkins; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1 at the North Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Rev. Mark Cameron and Rev. Lee Ingram officiating. Interment will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2 at the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Deacons from Samples Memorial Baptist Church and Cody and Austin Hammond serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 1 from 5-8 p.m. at the North Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
