Tonia J. Frazier Hooker, 64, of Cleveland, Tn., died Saturday, April 28, 2012.
Tonia was the daughter of the late Jacob H. and Pearl Frazier Smith. Born in Chattanooga June 11, 1947 she graduated from the old Chattanooga Central High School class of 1965. Tonia was the first Activity Director for Bradley County Nursing Home serving for over 25 years. Later she went to work for herself traveling and conducting seminars, workshops, activity courses speaking across the United States. Most recently she was employed by Morningside assisted living until her illness forced her to retire. She was a precious and beautiful person who loved people and influenced countless numbers of her students, friends and family, she had a wonderful personality and wit, she loved her work and she loved her life. Mrs. Hooker attended Phillipi Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Virgil M. Hooker; her “sons” whom she adored, Steven and Zackery Smith; brothers, Frank Smith of Cleveland, Johnny Frazier and his wife Vickie of Chattanooga, Terry and Pam Frazier of Chattanooga and Mark and Sun Hey Frazier of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1 at Phillipi Baptist church with Rev. Sammy Hooker and Rev. Fred Pursley officiating. Interment will follow at the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Tommy Connally, Rick Blevins, Billy Durgin, Johnny Hooker, Sammy Webb and Dennis Parker serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 30 from 5-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, May 1 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the North Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
