First Volunteer Bank announced that Sam Turnipseed has joined the Bank as Assistant Vice President and Market Leader of the Gunbarrel office in Chattanooga.

“I am excited to make this announcement”, stated Teddy B. Tucker, Executive Vice President for First Volunteer.  “Sam brings more than 10 years of financial experience to his new role.  He has a proven track record in helping customers with their financial needs.  His experience will be invaluable to our customers”, Mr. Tucker added.  Mr. Turnipseed most recently held the position of Licensed Personal Banker for a national bank in Northwest Georgia.

“I’m excited to join First Volunteer Bank.

  I’m enjoying working in the community bank environment where we are able to support the efforts of the communities we serve”, Mr. Turnipseed said.  “I look forward to continuing to work with my neighbors and friends in regards to their finances”, he added.  “There are many products and services we can offer to qualifying customers to help them accomplish their financial goals.”

Mr. Turnipseed is a graduate of Tennessee Temple University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in history. When he is not assisting customers with their banking needs, he enjoys music, travel and Auburn football.   He and his wife Robin are parents to a son.

Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Erlanger Hospital by LifeForce helicopter about 3:15 a.m. The driver was transported by Hamilton County EMS. It is believed he had non-life threatening injuries. ... City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
