Ooltewah, Soddy-Daisy Play Thursday In District 5-AAA Tournament

Ooltewah and Soddy-Daisy, the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds, will open their postseason play on Thursday in the District 5-AAA baseball tournament at 5 p.m. at Bradley Central High School in Cleveland.

Walker Valley, the No. 1 seed and regular-season champion, won’t play until Friday.

Host Bradley Central will help open the tournament on Wednesday when the Bears take on McMinn County in a 5 p.m. game. Cleveland (No. 5 seed) and Rhea County (No.

6) are slated to play at 8 p.m. on the opening day.

After the Owls and Trojans square off on Thursday, the Bradley-McMinn loser will take on the Cleveland-Rhea loser at 8 p.m.

On Friday, the Bradley-McMinn winner plays the Ooltewah-Soddy-Daisy winner at 5 p.m., Walker Valley plays the Cleveland-Rhea winner at 8 p.m. and a winner’s bracket semifinal is set for 7 p.m., with that winner securing a spot in the Region 3 tournament.

Two games are slated for Saturday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. and the bracket semifinal on Monday at 7 p.m. A loser’s bracket final will be played Tuesday at 7 p.m. and that winner advances to the championship game.

The championship game is scheduled for Wednesday, May 9, at 5 p.m. An “if necessary game” would be played after that.

Chattanooga FC Host Storm Saturday

Dog Fighting Operation Uncovered On Talladega Avenue

TBI was executing a narcotics search warrant at 6302 Talladega Ave. in Chattanooga on Friday and uncovered a dog fighting operation. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
